Animal House

Anybody looking for a pet? I have two cats and a dog that may soon become available!

OK, not really… but our animals have been driving me crazy! All of a sudden they have been totally out of control having accidents inside the house. I don’t know if it’s because we have the nursery set up now and that was too much change for them, or if they somehow know that the baby is coming soon, but it’s been very strange that all three of our pets are acting up.

Luc had been pretty much 99 percent potty-trained. The only time we’d occasionally have issues was if it was raining. He’d run down to the door, and instead of alerting us, he’d see the rain (“yeah, no thanks”) and pee right next to the door so he wouldn’t have to go outside and get wet. So he wasn’t perfect… but for the most part, he knew to run down to the door and bark any time he had to go to the bathroom.

Now, it’s like he’s never even been potty-trained at all. He started peeing in all the same places he used to when we first got him. And he’s going “number two” inside the house as well. What the heck?!?!

Meanwhile, the cats haven’t been any better. They, too, started peeing outside of their litter box. And they are 10 years old — so they definitely know better! First it was repeatedly happening on our bathroom rugs. We tried to keep the bathroom doors closed, but when it still kept happening Justin and I turned on each other — arguing that the other person must have left the door open. Then one day I discovered Scottie could actually slip his paw in between the pocket door and slide it open himself. What a stinker!

Then, I believe it was Michael who started going in the front entryway — particularly on my shoes! I had three pairs of suuuuper comfortable shoes, and those were pretty much all I’ve been wearing the last few weeks, until, sadly, I had to throw them all away, thanks to Michael. I had to run out to the store to try and find replacements because I had nothing else I could stand wearing without hurting my feet. It’s almost like he singled me out on purpose!

Recently, there was one morning in particular when I woke up, went to the bathroom and found cat poop on the rug. Cleaned that up. Left the bathroom to find dog poop in the hallway. Cleaned that up. Went back in the bathroom, stepped on another rug to find it wet with cat pee.

Ahhhhhh! What is happening?!?!

I’m reeeeally hoping that once the baby comes, everyone will just CALM DOWN. Things will go smoother then, right? RIGHT?!?!
