More on baby names

If you read about my dream in the last post, then you can probably tell I’ve been stressing about baby names.

It’s such a hard decision!

“It’s weird. On the one hand, it’s like the most important thing. But on the other, it doesn’t really matter,” Justin said once while we were trying to brainstorm.

We’ve been much closer on girl names then on boy names. And by that I mean I’d at least get a “maybe” for a handful of girl names I’d throw out there, while for any boy name suggestions it was always a hard “veto!”

While I like dorkier-sounding names (but dorky in a good way!) like Gideon and Spencer, Justin likes the strong and powerful ones — apparently all from ancient Roman times. Think: Julius, Alexander the Great, Maximus Poweress III (yes, that was actually mentioned at one point, haha.)

It also seems like there aren’t as many boy names to choose from. And apparently we know too many, too, because they all seem to be taken already. For girls though, it seems like there’s so many more options and more variety. But then it’s still tough because is it too unique then? Or too common? Ahhhh!

For help, I came across a phone app that works similar to Tinder. It shows you different names and you swipe left for the ones you like and right for the ones you don’t like. Then it will notify you when you have a match with your partner. So Justin and I both have accounts set up, and we can browse through it on our own time — getting alerts if we both say we like one. It’s kinda neat.

After lots of back and forth, though, I think we finally do have our top two front-runners! (Although we still need to work on middle names.)

For a girl, we ultimately went back to the very first one we wanted — way back before we even got married!

For a boy, I had tried to give Justin a deadline — “Give me five suggestions by Sunday!” He came back with one, and it was a winner! It was as simple as that, haha.

They’re both so cute together, too, that I was saying too bad it’s not going to be twins — a boy and a girl — so we could use both!

Not to be too much of a tease, but that’s about as much info as I’ll be sharing. At least for the time being. Partly because I still want to think it over (and over and over and over…) But also because if you did read about my last dream, everybody’s comments ruined my brilliant pick!
