It must be a sign you’ve been too stressed when a trip to the dentist’s office feels relaxing.
That was the last thing I was expecting, especially since I had to get two cavities filled. If you know my history with teeth (that I still have baby teeth with no adult teeth underneath) or about my recurring dreams (where my teeth are falling out) then you know I’m still a baby when it comes to the dentist, even if it’s just for a regular cleaning.
So when my appointment came up in the midst of a crazy time at work and during an escalating feud with our neighbors, I thought it was going to make a bad week even worse.
To my surprise, it was fabulous!
First off, that dentist’s chair was soooooooo comfy. It must have curved in all the right places. Plus a headrest AND a footrest?! I could have stayed there all day long!
Then they gave me headphones and an iPod. I clicked on a Motown radio station on Pandora, closed my eyes and just laid back listening to the upbeat tunes. I really felt totally relaxed the whole time. I hardly even noticed all the drilling going on in my mouth! (Maybe I should bring some Motown music for the delivery room?!)
And since I had to get not one but two cavities filled, that meant an even longer break from the office! And an even longer time in this comfortable chair!
I swear I’m not being sarcastic… It was the strangest thing how pleasant it was.
Although, they did give me some kind of alternative shot for the pain — something they use specifically for pregnant women. I wonder if that was really the secret, and if so, I want to request that at every visit!
